The CLF are open for all researchers in CITEC. In order to provide a scalable support, it operates and further develops several infrastructure tools and environments.

One particular solution is a collaborative environment linking website content and project management tools with software repositories and continuous integration services. It provides research projects with facilities to organize and perform team work. The Cognitive Interaction Toolkit provides guidelines and tools for collaborative software development and offers a catalogue of available components, systems, data sets, and other research artifacts.

The CLF offers special computing infrastructur that is accessible by any CITEC researcher.

The CLF provides different services and tools for demonstration engineering and fast prototyping. It further hosts a number of research platforms and equipment that are open to use by other researchers and where the CLF offer consulting. The CLF is involved in several research projects focussing on system integration issues.

The CLF hosts a labs, equipment, and tools that enables the realization of empirical studies with demonstrator-systems and is available to all the members of CITEC. The overall goal is to provide possibilities for combining different technical solutions and setups that are otherwise distributed over individual labs . The CLF further maintains several research platforms and devices (robotics, AR/VR devices, optical tracking, eye tracking, cameras, etc.) and offers appropriate consulting.

The CLF hosts a dedicated Redmine instance for open research projects. Within an open research project  CITEC  members can release software or data sets under an open access license model. Research artifacts (publications, software components and systems, data sets, etc.) can be aggregated in the CITK catalogue which is a searchable web frontend for accessing research artifacts. There, experiments can be documented in a re-producible format.

Software quality is a critical issue in order to achieve a sustainable research process. Therefore, the CLF is working together with the Cognitive System Engineering (S. Wrede) on a tool, infrastructure, and guideline support. Many of these ideas have been summarized and considered in the Cognitive Interaction Toolkit.
