Agri-robotics is on the rise, pushed by demographics (population growth), environmental concerns, and tighter immigration policies leading to labour shortages.
In this brief talk, I will highlight some of the potentials of agri-robotics, the specific challenges in deploying robots into the domain of berry production, the "low hanging fruits" in collaboration of human and robots in agriculture, and the challenges to be addressed.
I will further discuss the transition and adoption of robot technologies developed in other domains (care, logistics) into agricultural applications, covering aspects of robot navigation and mapping, human-robot interaction, and long-term autonomy.
